on saturday, our family headed to salad bar for lunch and it was the place my brothers brought my mother to during her birthday last year. it was my first visit there and definitely wont be my last.
when i went to otago, i have no one to cook for me and no one to chop up those fruits and serve nicely in a bowl for me after dinner, so it was always on my mind to include veggies for that vitamin and fiber requirement. and because i easily get bored with spinach and cabbage to me wasnt green enough to be considered veggie (lol), i always take romaine lettuce. those lettuce sold in supermarkets are usually all limpy and old, so once in a while i get those pre-packed, ready to eat salad packs with a more variety of veggies (and especially if they are due their expiry date and are on reduced price!) and boiled an egg, drizzle with french dressing and munch away. its yummy whammy!
so this salad bar is like ultimate inspiration to make better salads next time lol. first up was this salad ordered by my brothers, which was interestingly called the ‘superman’ as it is packed with proteins. it has red coral romaine, butterhead, diced pumpkin and prunes, slices of sausages, a hard boiled egg and wheat flakes (which i enjoyed so much as it gives a crunch to the salad) and dressed in honey mustard sauce. i didnt know it was honey mustard and thought it was a some kind of mango lassi yogurt dressing lol. but yea really refreshing and light. loved it. and didnt know you can put cereal with salad!
mom ordered a tropical salad which has a lot of fruits, like watermelon, pear, pomelo and mango. we had full servings for rm11.90 each (half servings are rm6.90) and the full one is HUGE! i can eat one and be so full. we had the brocolli soup which was haha really healthy and for carbs, we had the dory carbonara. the pasta is made from wheat (i think) as it’s not the usual kind and though it wasnt exactly creamy, the dory was really soft. the portion is also huge for rm7.90.
i love this place! and will come back for more salads :)
